OASIS Study Map

The Offshore Alabama Sand Information System (OASIS) was developed by the Geological Survey of Alabama in cooperation with the Minerals Management Service to identify potential high-quality sand deposits in the Gulf of Mexico and to provide a guideline for future sand investigations.  This cooperative agreement was established as a result of Public Law 109-234- Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Hurricane Recovery.

The primary feature of this site is an interactive web map of the Gulf of Mexico, centered on offshore Alabama, which contains a variety of datasets used in sand resource location.  Historical sand resource reports published by the Geological Survey of Alabama have also been made available on this site, along with links to related studies and contact information.
